Mintie Nel is South African, raised on a farm in Calvinia, SA. She is one of five children. She was saved in the Dutch Reformed Church as a child of 11 years and filled with the Holy Spirit during her college years. After qualifying as a Social Worker she worked in the Eastern Transvaal. In 1973 she responded to God’s call to go and serve in Israel. First she was part of a team planting a fellowship in Tiberius, then working in the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem. In 1991 God said: “Leave Israel and go to the nations..”. She participated in a YWAM Crossroads Discipleship Training School in Lausanne, Switzerland where she met Jan Rowland. In 1992 Mintie took pastoral training in the UK and joined Jan in the ministry of encouragement to missionaries working in the nations. After 15 years they still continue in a full-time ministry partnership.

Jan Whitmore is British, raised in Gillingham, Kent, UK. She is one of four children. She was saved in the Salvation Army as a seven year old and filled with the Holy Spirit at the age of 18 years. After holding various posts within the British Civil Service she answered God’s call to full-time ministry in 1989. She entered missions by participating in a Crossroads Discipleship Training School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Convinced she would eventually be serving in French Africa she spent two years in Paris with YWAM. However, God had other plans. In 1991 she was called back to Lausanne to serve on the next Crossroads Discipleship Training School – and there she met Mintie who was in the process leaving Israel after serving there for 12 years. In 1992 Jan took leadership training and pastoral training in the USA and UK. During that time God planted in her heart the vision for the encouragement of missionaries. Mintie joined her in establishing the ministry which has come to be known as Mission Encouragement Trust UK. Jan and her husband Des live in West Sussex.

MET TRUSTEES Mission Encouragement Trust is a registered UK Charity (1063403) and is administered by Trustees who represent both Church and Mission. They meet 3 times a year to plan and pray for this vital ministry in the Body of Christ
